Food and Drink

You can choose between making your meal out of a variety of tapas (small plates) which you can order in 3 different sizes, or a mix of tapas and an entrée. Everything on the menu tastes amazing and everything is unique. From traditional ceviche de pescado (white fish cooked in lime juice) to lamb shank and the succulent anticucho de corazon (beef heart skewer) there is something for every taste bud. They even have a vegetarian/ vegan and gluten free menu!

The best drinks of your life live here! Different fruit puree’s to make exotic new flavors like their famous Sacsayhuamán (habañero infused vodka and passion fruit puree). They also have traditional takes on some classic South American classics such as the pisco sour and the pineapple mojito. You feel as if you have left on vacation and you will not want to come back.

Casa Del Matador

A good deal of the entrees are a bit overpriced for the quality of the dish. However, we did have a steak dish (Charbroiled ribeye) and were surprised to find that it was delicious and well-prepared. The tacos are pretty basic – nothing a person couldn’t make at home. The steak quesadilla is very good, and we love their chocolate cake, which is served with ice cream, caramel sauce, and a carmelized piece of banana. Yum yum!

Cricket Cafe

Everything is fresh and tasty. American comfort food, updated. I love their oatmeal cinnamon pancakes, and the pepper bacon pairs nicely. The booze is really great, too. I always switch it up, because I’d really like to try all the cocktails they have on their menu. One of the best places to get lush with brunch.

Screen Door

This place proves you can have world-class food without having to sacrifice it to the altar of portion size.  Awesome quality and awesome portions go hand-in-hand here, unlike most highly-regarded Portland institutions (you know who you are).  Also: many of the ingredients here are organic (if you care deeply about that sort of thing, I’m just noting it because it makes the ingredients more expensive), which I can’t say for the “other” places that charge high prices for micro portions.

Wildwood

Wildwood has a pleasant ambience and the wait staff is polite and prompt.  Our confusion began with the menu with the unexpected pairings of foods.  We muddled our way through with the help of our waiter and settled on appetizers and entrees of a benign sounding filet of ribeye. This is about as Conde Nast ™ as it gets in PDX.  Only ate once, but used to drop by for the occasional premium bourbon. I really enjoy the dark wood and dim lighting.  Great ambience.  The food was very solid and well prepared.  The menu included different types of mushrooms on a number of dishes, if that strikes your fancy.
